Chick Lit Reading Challenge for 2011

I have joined a blog Chick Lit Reading Challenge for 2011.  Notice the new pretty button to the right, under my Goodreads button?  The challenge encourages participants to read 12 chick lit books in 2011 including two debut (new) authors.  There are fun giveaways and prizes along the way for motivation!  I am excited :)

I'm also in a challenge on Goodreads to read 104 books in 2011 (an average of two books a week!).  This one is going to be a stretch for me but I am going to give it a shot anyway.  My new nook might make it easier/more fun!

Christmas!

Merry (late) Christmas!  I hope everyone had as wonderful of a Christmas as I did!  I actually went to six Christmases and it was fun but also very crazy.  I woke up Thursday to finish packing, get ready, and head off for four days with a fever.  :(  I felt so sick and getting ready was miserable.  I ended up having a fever for two days before it broke-which led to a not so festive Bri.  I certainly wasn't very fun and unfortunately wasn't able to fully enjoy our Christmases as much as usual.  It was a bummer but we made the best of it and I was very blessed this season by my fabulous family.  Josh and I loved spending time with everyone and we came home with waaay too much stuff.  Some of my favorites were a new flat screen TV (thanks mom!), a nook (thanks dad!), the navy blue American Eagle puffy vest I have been wanting (thanks FMIL!), clothes, books, movies, and gift cards to American Eagle (already spent it...oops), Pizza Hut, Irving (for gas), Dunkin Donuts, Applebees, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hannaford (groceries!), and a local restaurant in Josh's hometown.  My mom also got us a super cute "Josh & Bri Engaged 2010" Christmas ornament that we love!  We got tons of other things as well and are extremely grateful for everything and everyone we got to spend Christmas with this season.

We are currently in the middle of a huge snowstorm and it is nice to be home relaxing for the day!  It is back to work for me tomorrow but until then I plan to enjoy my time with fiance, Daisy, my nook, and a fuzzy blanket.  Happy Holidays!

I won!

A few weeks ago I entered a contest on the StocknGo facebook page.  If you aren't familiar with StocknGo, they are a website that sells name-brand beauty products at discount prices.  They have browsing features that allow searches to be done by brand name (alphabetical) or by type of product.  You can check them out at www.stockngo.com and you totally should :)  Anyways, I was notified that I WON the contest!  I was so excited!  My prize came today and it was a large basket filled full of $250 worth of amazing name brand products!  Merry Christmas to me!!

Inside was: A Perfect World for Eyes firming moisture treatment with White Tea by Origins, a TIGI Hair Stick by Bed Head, Creme De Coco shampoo and conditioner by Bumble and bumble, Shine on finish spray by Biosilk, Frizz ease Miraculous Recovery Deep-Conditioning Treatment by John Frieda, W8less Strong Hold Shaping and Control Hairspray by Rusk (this is my FAVORITE hairspray but I usually don't buy it because its so expensive!), Daily Moisturizing Shampoo, Stimulating Conditioner, and Pomade by Crew Classic (For men so these ones are for Joshy) Styling treatment by Sebastian Potion 9, Blown away 09 heat styling protective blow dry gel by Redken, K-Pak Moisture Intense Hydrator by Joico (Smells SO YUMMY!), SIX bars of cucumber and green tea scent cool moisture soap with hydrating lotion by Dove, and a huge (23.6 FL OZ/700 ML) bottle of ultra moisture body wash with shea butter by Olay Body.  As a poor college student, this gift was so amazing and a fabulous Christmas present!  Everything smells so good and I have already started using some of it.  :) I love pampering myself with nice products but rarely let myself do so anymore due to that whole being responsible thing.  I am so thankful for this contest!  Thanks StocknGo, you are awesome and greatly appreciated!

Thirty Day Challenge-Day Eighteen

Okay so if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm determined to complete the thirty day challenge...just (obviously) not in thirty days.  I am going to continue to answer the questions when I can get to them.  However, now that I am done with class for a WHOLE MONTH, this task should be much easier!

Day 18 Challenge: What is your current obsession?  Why?

Wow.  I have a few current obsessions actually.  #1 is definitely reading!  I have always loved to read but I go through phases where I read more than usual and this is one of them.  I am constantly on my goodreads account searching for more books to read to my "to-read" list or curling up to read whenever possible.  Why?  Well like I said, I have always loved to read.  I get completely lost in books and love everything about them from falling in love with the settings, characters, and the stories over all.  I love the accomplished feeling I get when I finish a good book and check it off my list online.  I need to buy a book shelf because I am slowly running out of book storing room in our tiny apartment!

My second obsession at the moment is shopping (embarrassed face!).  Something about the Christmas season and all of the sales I keep getting email reminders for makes me want to shop, shop, shop!  I love the thrill of finding a great deal or bargain.  I also love the feeling of wearing something new.  Still having about ten pounds to lose before I'm back to my old confident self, new clothing certainly makes me more confident in my appearance.  I also feel less worried about my upcoming student teaching semester and (hopefully!) new teaching job next year when I add to my teaching wardrobe.  These isn't much I can do to prepare for my future at this point...I just have to sit around and wait for jobs to open up to apply for.  However, I can control my teaching wardrobe and I plan to be 100% prepared in the one area that I can prepare for :)

You heard me right, I'm on winter break now for one whole month!  I have a few final assignments to turn in an an exit interview on Tuesday but after that it is just work and relaxation.  Oh, and lots of reading and shopping I suppose <3
