Yesterday, today, tomorrow

I went out last night!  Most of my friends are back at school finally and it was so nice to see everyone!  The only lame part was that fiance had to work and couldn't come with me :(  He is still sleeping but when he wakes up we are going to do laundry and maybe go grocery shopping.  I have coaching at 5:30 and it will be the first day the squad gets to meet the third coach Lyndsay, so I am excited for that.

Classes start tomorrow!  I cannot believe I am a Senior in college.  Craziness I tell you, craziness!  I need to get all of my books and binders together tonight.  Eek!  We went car shopping yesterday.   I work mostly under the table and Josh and I don't have too much credit since we are still in college so finding something we can afford from a dealership that is willing to work with us is difficult.  Also, I don't want another old crappy car so that narrows our search by a lot too.  Hopefully it works out soon because I am siiiick of my current car!

Slacker

I've been slacking at the blogage lately.  However, I do have excuses!  First of all, I have been super busy.  Second of all, the things I have busy with are not that exciting or blogworthy.  I did start coaching a local 7th and 8th grade football cheering squad.  So much fun!  We have twenty girls so far and I am hoping more don't show up or we will have to make cuts :(  I am the head coach but thankfully have two assistant coaches who cheer with me at UMF to help me out.  We practice twice a week and have games on Saturdays.  So far we have seen a HUGE improvement in the girls from when we met them the first day and they are all doing a great job!  Yay!

UMF freshmen move in today.  Apparently 700 were accepted this year.  That may not sound like a lot but trust me, at UMF it is.  I have no idea where everyone is going to park, live, walk, etc. this year.  UGH.  It makes me very thankful to be living in an apartment off campus!  Fiance is closing tons this week at work.  Thursday-Sunday actually.  Lame.

The family I babysit for is leaving for a beach house on a private beach tomorrow!  Very exciting.  School starts this week but J and I will be traveling to stay at the beach house and get paid to "work" on the beach with the kids as much as possible.  We are very excited!  Classes start Wednesday.  I can't believe summer is already over!  It definitely went by way too fast.  I ordered and received my books in the mail already.  Only $200 which isn't too bad considering I have spent $600 in the past.

Well thats about it for now.  I might write more later <3

Love this!

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong (reposting Mitchell Sturges)

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

I...

I saw this on another blog and felt like filling it out!

I love... my fiance, friends, family, Daisy Bernadette, my job, my major and future career, shopping, reading, taking naps, sunny weather, children, ice cream, dresses, flowers, lazy days, cheerleading, decorating, being organized, helping others, and traveling.

I hate... discrimination, rain when I need to go somewhere and want to look nice, bugs, lies, unexpected change, being pale, being cold, sleeping alone, running, not getting enough sleep, feeling sick, paying bills, being ignored, my car, and losing things.

I put up with... my car (for now), never being able to sleep through the night, having no money so I can go to school, and my fiance biting his nails (EW).

I want... to marry Joshua (hehe), a new laptop, to lose ten pounds, to see my friends who live too far away, to make Dean's List again this semester, to watch The Office, to be at Country Fest right now :(, to buy a Jeep Liberty, some cute fall/winter clothes, to get an awesome teaching job next year at a school near Josh's equally awesome teaching job, and to save money this year.

I wish... Money wasn't an issue so I could move to Guatemala for a few years and take one of the long term teaching positions Safe Passage is hiring for right now, it was easier to manage my time well enough to see everyone I love while still getting good grades and working at the same time, there were better restaurants in my town, I worked out more this summer, and that UMF cheering would start already!

I need... to clean my bathroom, to go grocery shopping, to pay bills, to work out, to catch up on sleep, to call my mom and finalize plans for tomorrow.

I can't... wink with my right eye, snap with my right hand, watch scary movies alone, afford a puppy (but I really want one!), run fast, or write neatly (I'm working on it!).

I fear... spiders, scary men who fight loudly at the bars behind my apartment at night when Josh is working, global warming, the economy and lack of available teaching jobs in Maine, small spaces, driving in snow storms at night, drowning, failure, and losing loved ones.

Quick updates

I have a bunch of things to talk about but only a little to say about each thing so I am going to do a "list-style" blog post today.  Enjoy :)

1. I am head coaching a local 7th and 8th grade football cheering squad this year and tryouts started this week.  Two of my fellow UMF cheerleaders are assistant coaching and we are very excited!  At our first tryout we had 16 girls and we are expecting a few more to join.  The commitment is only two practices a week and Saturday games so it isn't too bad.  Also, I want to coach when I am a teacher so this is good practice/a good resume builder!  The girls were really good and impressed me with their talent.  It should be a good season!

2. I made cake balls last week!  SO YUMMY!  You basically bake a cake (I did red velvet box cake) and let it cool.  Then crumple it up into a bowl and mix with frosting (messy!).  Roll the new "batter" into little balls and put on wax paper.  Place in the freezer over night (I didn't put them in longer and the next steps were harder then they should have been.  Don't get impatient!).  Melt chocolate bark and roll the balls (hehe balls) in the chocolate.  We did regular and white chocolate. YUM.

3. Josh and I have been cleaning our apartment.  When we moved in we left a few boxes of random stuff that we didn't want to get rid of yet but wanted to eventually use.  Lame.  Annnnnyways we have company coming this weekend and it motivated us to finally get things in order.  This makes us much happier.

4. Tonight I work at 8:30 and Josh works 5-close.  I miss spending nights cuddled up reading or watching movies :(

5. I am looking to buy a new vehicle!  My car is old (a 1995 Honda Civic) and probably won't pass inspection this December without a ton of work.  I really, really, really love Jeep Liberties!  However, my main income is made under the table so financing might be a problem.  Any suggestions on how to get around this?  We can easily handle car payments but don't have much of a down payment to put down right now.  Ughh.

6. Did I mention me and Josh's families met last weekend?  We got together at my uncle and aunt's house and everything went so well!  The weather was beautiful and my family was so generous to provide the house and tons of food.  They even had a cake with our picture on it! Aww!  We hung out by the pool all day and both families got along well with absolutely no awkwardness whatsoever.  J's family was also able to see the Morgan Hill Event Center after!  We called them up and they told us their was a wedding going on but to show up and they would bring us up on the balcony to "see it in action".  Thankfully, they loved it as much as we do!

7. This Sunday there is going to be another family get together with my mom, her mom, Josh's parents, Josh's Aunt, and Josh's grandmother.  They are all coming to our apartment because the grandmothers haven't seen it yet.  After we are all going to go to lunch at The Granary which is our favorite local restaurant.  It should be another good time :)

Thats it for now.  Hope you are enjoying your Friday!

Wedding shoes?

I love shoes! So of course I am already obsessed with looking for wedding shoes. Obviously, I won't buy any for a long time because if I bought some now I might find something way better in a year and totally regret my purchase. Despite this, I look anyways :). I thought I would share some of my current favorites/inspirations with you blog readers you. (Does anyone really read this?! If so, how come you aren't following my blog? I have ZERO followers! Lameo.)

Reception Venues!!

Friday I went to visit three different reception venues with Joshua and my mom. Very exciting! First we went to Spectacular Event Center in Bangor. It was really nice and I loved the lady who met with us. The one factor that bugged us about them was that they would not/could not guarantee us the reception room that we wanted. Even if we booked with them first, if a bigger party came along and wanted our date too, they would get our room and we would be bumped down into the much uglier and smaller room.

The next place we visited was Jeff's Catering in Brewer. I can sum up my opinions on this place in two words- HELL NO! First of all, when we got there a large dog about ran us over. I'm all for dogs but it wasn't very professional. Then when we got to see Jeff-he had NO idea we had a scheduled meeting. I had been emailing someone from Jeff's Catering back and forth for a few weeks and had even sent a confirmation email a few days before the appointment. He proceeded to "show us around", if you can even call it that, by showing us the rooms without any info or selling points what so ever. I know they are cheap and their food is supposed to be awesome but come onnnnn! I didn't even bother asking questions because he was so rude! J was appalled!

We stopped to eat a fabulous meal at SeaDog! Yum! J got this HUGE burger that I had to take a picture of. He said it was delicious but I'm not really (at all) a burger girl so I will take his word for it.
I took a picture of my yummy salad too! It had apples, walnuts, chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and a really different dressing on the side that I fell in love with.
Mom's meal was boring so she didn't get a picture. Finally, we visited our future reception venue! YAY! With no further delay, I present to you: The Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon!

The website doesn't have any nice pictures of the outside but it is gorgeous too! There are beautiful gardens and a pond. If you can't tell, I am absolutely in LOVE with this reception venue. Josh loves it too and we both agreed we don't need to look any further because this place is so "us". The pictures don't even do it justice. We are putting a deposit down soon for July 7, 2012! Yes, that is right- it is official. I will be a married woman July 7, 2012. EEK!

I love this quote!

One of my facebook friends had the following quote as her status today:

"Everybody's journey is individual. If you fall in love with a boy, you fall in love with a boy. If you fall in love with a girl, you fall in love with a girl. The fact that many Americans consider it a disease says more about them than it does about homosexuality." -James Baldwin

I love it! I have never been able to comprehend hatred towards another person because of their sexuality. Why would I care who someone is sexually attracted to? Why would I care if a man married a man? I don't understand why so many people are bothered by homosexuality. How does it affect you at all? I don't like basketball but that doesn't mean I think it should be illegal for other people to play!

I want one!

http://blog.sharpie.com/2010/08/introducing-the-new-sharpie-liquid-pencil/

Umm I want one! (or ten?) If you don't feel like looking, it is a LIQUID sharpie pencil. Neat huh? Have I mentioned I love school supplies? Because I totally loooove school supplies. J literally has to drag me away from the school supply aisles or I will buy way too much stuff that I don't need. For example: I recently purchased a pink binder for wedding planning. I also bought a pink and brown polka dot folder (our wedding colors!) with a matching notebook and pen. HA yes I know but I couldn't help it, all if it looked so cute! Something about new supplies makes me want to be productive. Does anyone else feel this way about school supplies or am I crazy?

Soap!

Bath and Body works is having an amazing sale called "The Great American Hand Soap Event!" Sounds intense but I promise it is worth checking out! J and I went shopping at the mall on our way home from the beach Friday and bought seven soaps for $20! They are my favorite soaps EVER and come in tons of different scents. They are those foamy soaps. (PS how in the world do they make those soaps look normal in the bottle but come out foamy? I don't get it!) Anyways, totally random but I definitely recommend them to anyone. J just washed his hands and I can smell his soap from across the room :)

Wedding inspiration :)

Even though our wedding is almost two years away, I am completely obsessed with planning already. We are meeting with three different reception venues this Friday and I can't wait! I have a folder on my desktop full of ideas and inspiration that I find online. Here are some pictures that describe the vibe we are going for:

Our colors are going to be pink and chocolate brown and if you can't tell, I LOVE peonies. Josh used to pick them for me all the time last year in his old apartment and I think they are perfect for our wedding. We also are very drawn to the look of "old" barns for the reception. We feel they support the laid back feel we want for our wedding. In fact, one of our favorite venues is one of the ones we will be visiting this week so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it is as great as it looks!

Vacation!

This past week we went to Old Orchard Beach for three days with my dad, brother, and my brother's friend. We had so much fun! Weather.com predicted rain but it held off except for one night and we went to the movies so it worked out well. We saw Inception and I totally recommend it! It was one of those psychological movies that requires complete attention or you will be lost, but I love movies like that.

We also went to a Sea Dogs game and that was fun too! The team lost but that's okay, the weather was perfect for a baseball game. It was also neat to be back at the place Josh proposed about a month ago :)We spent a lot of time at the beach (obviously) and it was very relaxing. Here are some pictures:

I love the beach! I have the day off today so I will probably blog more later. <3
