Busy week!

This week has been super busy! Today I "worked" a twelve hour shift and tomorrow I work an eleven hour one. In fact, this is going to have been a fifty hour work week for me...and I had Monday off. Yeaaah I am sleepy! I clearly loooove my job but my lack of sleep is definitely starting to catch up with me! I just got home at 8 and now fiance is closing at work :( Boring. I think I will curl up with my current book and read until I fall asleep.

It is crazy that July is almost over! Where has summer gone :( This is my last summer as a college student! Completely ridiculous. I am very excited to be done with school and become a teacher but it is still a bit sad to end this time of my life. I will miss the social scene for sure. Also, unlike most of my peers, I actually enjoy classes. I love learning (Yes, if you haven't figured it out yet-I am a total nerd), especially about my future career field. I love reading and discussing literature that challenges to me. I love being pushed to discover information I would never attempt to uncover on my own. Over all, I just love the feeling of bettering myself everyday and getting class credit for it. (Okay maybe I should have emphasized the total nerd part?) ;)

Okay, time for that book and bed. Plus Daisy on my head I'm sure. Goodnight!

Teacher clothes?

My new (I like to think justified) obsession? Shopping for teaching clothes! For those of you who are unaware, I am only 5 feet tall (uhh on a good day) and a size zero or extra small. It is VERY difficult to find cute, cheap, and professional clothes to wear as an elementary school teacher. Okay, so I am a super picky dresser/shopper/anything to do with fashion-er but still. I never expected it to be so hard to find clothes that meet the criteria. I look extremely young for my age (especially in clothing that covers my chest). I can't have parents mistaking me for students! Where do you buy your work clothes? Shop for me? Thanks :)
-Bri

PS let me add that although I am picky with clothing, I have never struggled to find clothes. I loooove shopping. This could be why the search for teachers clothes has frustrated me so much? I do not know.

30 Day Shred

I am embarrassed to say I have totally let myself go over the past year. In fact, I have gained almost twenty pounds total and I have officially had enough. (I blame it on living with a boy!) Today is my new start :) I started the 30 Day Shred dvd today and loved it!

I liked that it is quick (only 30 minutes) because it is easy to fit into my day. It includes cardio, abs, and weight training so I am getting a little bit of everything. I plan on doing it everyday and adding some more cardio and abs on days I have time. I am also starting to stretch a lot to prepare for cheering this season. It won't hurt to be back in shape for our wedding either! (EEK!! WEDDING!) Lets hope I see results!

Daisy Bernadette

This is Daisy Bernadette. She is the weirdest cat I have ever met which makes her tons of fun. She will be two years old this December...her and Joshua actually share a birthday! Her strange hobbies include sleeping under the couch, sucking on humans' ears, eating lettuce, and staring out the window/people watching. Instead of cuddling on our laps she prefers to be standing on her hind legs with her front paws resting on our shoulders. We love her very much :)

Update

Yesterday Josh and I took Ava and Quinn the the beach all day. The weather was beautiful and what a great way to spend my work day :) I "worked" 7-6 but now I have four days off and I am super excited. Tonight I have having dinner with one of my best friends, Kristi. She is engaged too! Very exciting :)

More about my engagement! Josh and I are planning a late June or early July 2012 wedding. We are student teaching in the spring and then graduating. After that we are moving (who knows where?!) and applying to every teaching job available in Maine. There is clearly no way to plan a wedding for that summer without going completely insane...which is the reason for the 2012 wedding and two year long engagement. We are very excited and have already started planning and saving. My ring is PERFECT and I love it so much. Pictures don't come close to doing it justice but I love any chance to show it off so here are a few anyways-

I will probably be posting often about our wedding planning because its pretty much always on my mind.

More later,
Bri

Intro

Hello blog world! Although I tend to think of myself as "a writer", this is my very first blogging experience. I have always wanted to blog but have never seemed to get around to creating one for some reason. Anyways, some recent exciting changes in my life (more on those later) have led me to finally taking the plunge.

I am a twenty-year-old senior at The University of Maine at Farmington majoring in Elementary Education and concentrating in Language Arts. I love working with children and when I am not working hard as a full time student, I am hardly working :) Okay so I work often but my jobs are so much fun that they can barely be considered work if you ask me. I work as a substitute teacher at a daycare on campus in both the preschool and school age rooms. I am also a part/full time (depending on the week) nanny for the most well behaved and adorable children EVER. Don't believe me? This is Ava:

She is four years old and extremely mature for her age. Her current obsessions include princesses, learning to swim under water, and making movies of herself on my camera. Seriously though- she makes her own bed, is learning Spanish(via me), and always uses her manners. She calls me Miss Brianne <3
This is Thomas Quinn:

We usually call him Quinn for short, or sometimes even Q. He has recently discovered he can pull himself into a standing position and is crawling like crazy. I taught him to "dance" the other day-which includes bobbing his head and shaking his hands! :) Too cute.

Like I said, easiest jobs ever! The three of us spend most of our time at the beach, playground, or library. Their parents are so sweet. Example: today they sent me home with THREE bags full of food "just because". (Told you)

July 5th, 2010 I went to a Sea Dogs baseball game with my boyfriend Josh, his siblings, and their boyfriend and girlfriend. After the game there were fireworks and Josh whispered the sweetest words into my ear and got down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and of course I cried and said "yes"! He planned everything out and even had his sister prepared with a camera to capture the moment. Josh is my best friend and I honestly could not be more excited to marry him!

That is enough for now. I should get some sleep since I "work" 7-6 tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
